Ngemelis, just to the south of Koror Island, is the most popular diving area in Palau. It is known for world known dive sites such as Blue Corner Wall, rated by many divers as the best dive in the world, and Ngemelis Wall. Other islands in this dive section are the Ngerukewid Islands (Ngerukuid or Seventy islands) just to the north. German Channel is particularly interesting as it was created by the Germans when they bought Palau from the Spanish. They literally blasted their way through the rich and vast coral reefs to provide an easy and deep shipping lane between Koror and the Pacific.
